Position: Payroll Specialist (Peoplesoft)

Position Overview:
Our government client is looking for a Payroll Specialist to make an immediate impact. This is a work-from-home, remote position. The successful hire will have experience processing high-volume, end-to-end payroll into Peoplesoft. Candidates who have experience with implementation/unionized environments will be in high consideration.
Compensation: $28/hour+ (depending on experience)
What will you be doing?
- Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this position is responsible for performing timely and accurate payroll calculations for unionized employees
- Process bi-weekly payroll for 500+ employees
- Payroll reconciliations
- Serve as a point of contact for employee payroll inquiries
- Data entry of all payroll and some HR related items including benefit updates and changes
- Maintain employee records accurately and up-to-date in HRIS/Payroll System
- Support year-end and general ledger account reconciliations
- Assist in auditing and payroll balancing
Requirements:
- PCP Designation
- CPM Designation is an asset (not mandatory)
- At least 5+ years experience in full-cycle payroll
- Must be thorough with end-to-end processing into PeopleSoft 9.1
- Experience in Peoplesoft, SAP or an in-house ERP system
- Intermediate-to-advanced Excel skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work well independently and in teams
- Union experience is an asset
- Experience working in the municipality sector is a considerable asset
- Hands-on experience with implementation is also a considerable asset
